I am in Maine, what state are you in? Can I expect this leak to get worse? Would it be safe to put something under it to catch the fuel and drive it a coupl of hundred miles? Cause if you are within five hundred miles, I will take you up on that.

Bob

Superior Ram

In the big, oversized, sorry about that, picture I posted, do you see the cover with four screws, the leak is about an inch below the cover and about mid way between the two screws towards the front of the truck or the left of the picture.

If he moved to Maine he would get rich. We have only a handful of diesel mechanics and as you saw from the qoute I got, they are not reasonable.

So, I guess I'm gonna do this on my own. I think I understand how to get at it.

It is a 1990 Dodge 3/4 ton with the Banks intercooler, five speed, 2wd with 350,000 miles. Looks bad but runs great.
Sounds like they just quoted a new pump. Some places refuse to rebuild anything.

And yes Eric. I'm sure this will come in handy. Very nice write up.

That would be why I saved a copy to the Tech Article section.

It could be the throttle shaft seal, or even a worn throttle shaft, mine is wore and scored, but it doesnt leak, yet. It could also be the big seal for the housing. It's hard to say without seeing it in person.

I'm going to start taking it apart without taking it off the truck next week, weather permitting, I have to work outside. I'll take pictures and post them on my sight with a link so as not to abuse band width here and there I can control the size of the picture, here I can't.
